so I banged Alistair in Dragon Age: Origins
when we finished, his approval increased
and he gained a "massive" boost to his constitution
is that supposed to be some sort of innuendo, because I'm not sure and I feel vaguely weirded out by this
Actually, I'm weirded out by this entire relationship, to be honest. Alistair acts like a goofy older brother or something, not someone I should be banging! His approval goes up when I give him gifts that basically amount to
action figures, okay?
...Although I do have to admit that the delivery on the "
licked a lamppost in winter" line was straight up one of the skeeviest things I've ever heard. Seriously, what the fuck, man.
He's going to end up dead, somehow, I just know it. Dead or dumped Revan-style because I'll have to go someplace he can't follow. I'M WISE TO YOUR GAME, BIOWARE. I KNOW HOW THIS WORKS.
okay so it was actually Obsidian that did the whole "Revan leaving Carth/Bastila" thing but still
SO ANYWAY, GETTING OFF THE TOPIC OF MY NONEXISTENT SEX LIFE:
Dragon Age is probably one of the most infuriating games I've ever played. I feel like an idiot because I should
know how to handle the battle system by now (I've recruited the Dalish elves and the Circle, that's two sections of the main quest I've finished), but I still get slaughtered in random enemy encounters. I'm so used to micromanaging what my allies do and controlling aggro, but the combat goes by so dang
quickly. I can hardly keep up sometimes. On top of that, so much depends on placement and targeting, and I am constantly thwarted by the camera. I would do so many crazy things for a top-down view that doesn't completely limit my field of vision.
Sometimes battles go completely right, other times it just takes an alternate strategy to mow everyone down, but overall I'm staring at a game over screen more than I'd like. Maybe I should play around with everyone's strategies (I keep wanting to call them gambits :/), but I've checked them out and they
seem pretty solid. The game isn't dumb when it comes to automatically selecting what everyone should do during battle when I'm not there holding their hands. Of course, I could be horribly wrong; the strategy screen is intimidatingly complex, and I've only poked around with it a bit.
I don't know. Ugh. Maybe I should check out some guides, see what everyone else is doing, because this isn't working for me. Well, it
is working for me, I'm still progressing through the game, but I want to be
good at this, you know?
